Len Funk specialises in arthroscopic (keyhole) and minimally invasive shoulder surgery. He uses advanced modern techniques for the management of shoulder dislocations, frozen shoulders, arthritis, and sports injuries of the shoulder.

Len routinely treats elite and professional athletes, with a particular interest in shoulder injuries in Rugby and contact sports, he has a large experience in treating professional sports people.

Len holds a Professorship at Salford University and his NHS contract is at Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Trust. He is also a partner in OrthTeam and the Manchester Sports Medicine Clinic.

In addition to his surgical qualifications, he is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports & Exercise Medicine UK and holds a BSc in Sports Physiology and an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering.

He is involved in developing and running Postgraduate degrees for surgeons, therapists and sports clinicians in Orthopaedics, lecturing nationally and internationally on Shoulder Surgery, Sports Injuries and Medical Informatics. He is published widely in medical journals and is a member of many international and national professional organizations.

 

Len performs office shoulder ultrasound, thus providing immediate scans and outcome assessments to all patients at the first clinic appointment, offering a one-stop diagnostic service for shoulder injuries and diseases. He also trains other clinicians on shoulder ultrasound and lectures internationally.
